Open Water Diver (Beginner)
Includes:
  • Knowledge Development sessions
  • Skills Development sessions in a pool or pool-like conditions
  • 4 Scuba dives in open water
(earns the PADI Open Water Diver certification, enabling you to buy/rent scuba equipment and dive without direct instructor supervision)
  • ALL the equipment

    Tuition cost:
    $373.00, which includes the following
(use this as your checklist if you are shopping around):

Minimum class size of 2 people
advantage to you is that your class will not be canceled because there aren't enough people.

Maximum class size of 4 people
(our average class size is 2.5 people) - advantage to you is that you get more one-on-one instruction for the time you spend in class/pool.

Academics and pool are completed in 1st weekend, open water dives are completed in 2nd weekend
advantage to you is that you are not driving aground in traffic, making multiple trips wasting your valuable time and gas. If you are part of the small percentage of people that need more time for either academics or pool or both, we will roll you over into another scheduled class at no cost to you except your time. The only time it may cost you more money is if you need to finish before the next scheduled class (vacation trip planned, etc).

    All equipment is included
yes...included, mask, fins, snorkel, boots, bc, regulator, wet suit, weights/belt, air tank, air throughout the class, including your certification dives if completed by Oceanic Explorers, advantage to you is that you do not have to purchase or rent any equipment to get certified for diving.

    No certification fee
$ 433.00 is the complete tuition cost with training materials to get your PADI certification card in your hands (local certifications only during the warmer months, Florida certification trips cost extra, see trips and travel page).

The reason we are able to complete the academics and pool in a single weekend is due to the class size. The more people there are in a class (especially in and under water) the more time it takes. If you are the type of person that picks things up quickly, in a big class you could be bored. If you are the type of person that needs more time or are having difficulties, everyone could be staring at you for slowing down the class.

We only offer weekend classes or weekday classes by appointment, because during the weeknights you usually don't get out of the pool until 10:30 or 11:00 pm. That's out of the pool, you still have to dry off, change your clothes, rinse and put up the equipment, then drive home.

We do not charge extra for children. A child does need to be at least 10 years old to become a certified diver.

We do not sell scuba equipment, we are focused on (your) scuba training only.

    ****************

    PADI Open Water Crew-Pak
Contains the academic text with adventure logbook pages
, the Recreational Dive Planner and your certification card:
    $60.00 with tax.

    ****************

The only other cost for you is the entry fee paid at the scuba park used for the certification dives.
Scuba park entry fees vary just enough that it would be difficult to try to include them, as part of the tuition. We choose scuba parks by water clarity. Each scuba park water clarity varies depending on the time of the year. Oceanic Explorers wants you to enjoy your certification dives, therefore depending on the time of the year, different classes may go to different scuba parks. Average entry fee for two days (required for certification) is $33.00.

    Due to our Customers feedback:

We have streamlined our class schedule, without sacrificing quality education.
Academics and Pool are combined into one weekend.
Weeknight academics or pool are schedule by special request for those with schedule conflicts.
